Most of our products are shipped from our warehouse in New York City. There are exceptions.The product description will note any special shipping conditions and those few cases where we might have potential delays. We ship either Fedex Ground or USPS Priority Mail (US Mail). Books can also be sent U.S. Postal Service Book Rate(Media Mail), which is essentially third class mail and takes a few weeks. In the case of out of stock items, for domestic orders there is no additional charge for multiple shipments - the shipping charge we initially quote for the order is what you pay. Internationally, we normally ship USPS Global Priority Mail. In the case of out of stock items on international orders we will hold your order and ship complete. If we think there will be a very long delay we will contact you to see if you want to delete the out-of-stock items from your order, or substitute another item.
We also allow you to place and order and then pick it up here at our warehouse. Select the shipping option: Store Pickup for this service. However if you are a new customer, and we have not previously shipped to your address before we ask you to bring your credit card to the store so that we can swipe it for the sale.
You can see a list of shipping options and costs by putting the items you wish in your cart, going to the cart page, and then entering your zip code or country. When you place your order you will also see the same list and you can pick your preferred shipping method (before you enter your credit card information) - you can decide what's best.
Some methods of shipping also indicate the number of days in transit. These estimates are from when you order is shipped, not from when you place your order - although we do try to ship your order within a day of receipt. Express methods of shipment are guaranteed by the carrier, and also receive priority from us for immediate shipment from our warehouse.
We are located in Brooklyn, NY and charge sales tax according to New York State law. In New York State you are charged the local sales tax of where we deliver your order. We are also required to charge sales tax for many other states. If your organization is except from sales tax please send us an email with a copy of your local sales tax exception form filled out and signed. In addition we need your company name and a list of all the emails from where a company order might be placed. We will then set up your account so that all orders from those emails are sales tax exempt. This usually takes a day to process. If you need to place an order right away, please the order, send us the form and we will refund the tax. Requests for sales tax refunds must be submitted within 2 days of placing the original order.
Information about whether a given item is in stock is included under each full product description (with a few exceptions). We keep this information as up-to-date as possible, but occasionally our information is not accurate. If we think a product is in stock, and we find out after you place your order that we don't have it in stock, or the last one in the warehouse is broken, or one of our vendors ran out of something, we will let you know right away (within 24 business hours). If you have special instructions regarding the shipping, drop us a line and we will see what we can do. One of our major advantages is that we are a small company and we can pay attention to the small details of your order.
If an item is out of stock for domestic orders we might ship you multiple shipments. There is no extra shipping charge for this service.
Some of our items are hard to get and have an irregular supply. While we apologize for the inconvinence we reserve the right to cancel without notice any backorders over six months.
We have noticed that some customers find that as they shop, items go missing from their baskets. This problem is caused when customer's browser or firewall is configured (either manually or by default) to reject cookies. Like most on-line stores our system uses a single cookie to allow you to maintain your shopping cart contents. This cookie will expire automatically about three weeks after your last visit. The simplest solution is to turn the "cookie" function on or to call us (800-426-4613) and place the order over the telephone. We are committed to improving the ordering process, and so we will continuing to work on eliminating problems such as this one.
Orders held for in-store pickup that are not picked up within 30 days will be considered abandoned, refunded where possible, and if damaged will not be the responsibility of Tools for Working Wood.
