6" Cabinet Scraper

A sharp cabinet scraper delivers an unbelievable bang for the buck - it can be among the most valuable of hand tools.

It excels particularly in challenging areas of hardwoods where traditional hand planes often cause tear-out. Scrapers can also produce a cleaner surface than sanding, with no pore dust or fuzz of torn wood fibers.

When sharpened correctly, the scraper produces a gossamer shaving and is the final treatment for removing the last blemish from your work.

Most professional cabinetmakers I know use very few hand tools but always keep a supply of scrapers on hand. 6" x 3" hardened steel the edge needs to be honed and then burnished to form the burr.
