Like everyone else, we are suckers for hand made rasps. These Gramercy Tools modelling rasps are hand cut and you will be surprised not only by how fast they work, but by how smooth a surface they leave. They are narrow but wow they can remove a lot of material precisely and speedily. Made of surgical grade stainless steel for a tough, long life with a brass ferruled wood handle. The lengths given are the approximate working length of the rasp. "Teeth coarseness" is the approximate number of teeth per inch of the rasp teeth.

Cabinet rasps (see accessory list below) are designed for average applications. These modeling rasps are for smaller work and where detail, control, and finesse are required. When we designed these rasps we really wanted to emphasize their narrowness, and they are narrower than most modelling rasps we know of, so that you can work scroll work like that found on fancy chairs and such. The longer rasps give a longer stroke and work faster, the shorter rasps are easier to handle for very precise work. The rasps are made in Pakistan, which has a long tradition of metalwork, by a single craftsman with very limited production who is working to our specifications. Sizes will come in an out of stock as supply permits. The handles are made in USA.

Excellent woodworking tools. Handmade tells the tale of craftsmanship. The wood will not reveal the work of a quality rasp.
I’m impressed

As others have said, these rasps cut quickly and smoothly. Great for detail work cleaning up area like piercings, seat splats and aprons. I even use it to adjust shapes fitting 1/8 inch veneer patches on antiques.
I own this product.
Modeler's rasp 8 in.
By: Ray Dunn (Mar, 2021)
I thought I'd take a chance on one of these rasps since I couldn't get the French rasps during Covid that I've used in the past. I was very impressed with the modeler's rasp that I purchased. It cuts smoothly and evenly, and costs about half the price of the other brand. Highly recommended, well done!
I own this product.
Great for coping intricate baseboards, crown

Great rasp for doing trim around the house. Beats the cheap rasp I got at a big box store. The rat tail will file the intricate faces of baseboards and crown molding.
I own this product.
Rat Tail Rasp
By: MattR (Feb, 2016)
I bought the rat tail as I have a ridiculous number of furniture-grade copes in hard maple. While nothing in life is a magic bullet, this rasp is pretty damn good. After several hours of continuous use spread over 2 weeks my fingers might feel a slight loss of bite, but it has not shown down it actual use. It's fast and the finish is fine. It's already paid for itself and I'll be picking up a few others after my next paycheck.
I own this product.

I tried your rasps at the Saturday tool fest in Red Hook yesterday. Wow. I have not used a rasp of such good quality and it changed my head around. I will be ordering one very shortly.

The 8" Modeller's rasp is unbelievable. I was surprised by how fast and smooth they work. I need to pick up a full sized rasp in the future.
