Ashley Iles No. 3 Straight Gouges

From what I see, only two major makers of full sets of carving gouges are left—Pfeil and Ashley Iles. And while Pfeil are used by many professional (and amateur) carvers, the O1 metal used by A. Iles and the thick blades makes them my preferred choice, in addition to the fact that they arrive sharp, have a metal ferrule, and comfortable handles. I've bought many sweeps and have found them superb, holding a great edge for a long time, even when carving hardwoods, like oak (which is what I primarily carve). These should be considered by every carver. Hopefully, if people continue to buy them, Iles will continue to manufacture them!
