Ashley Iles No. 2 Skew Chisels

From what I see, only two major makers of full sets of carving gouges are left: Pfeil and Ashley Iles. And while Pfeil are used by many professional (and amateur) carvers, the O1 metal used by A. Iles and the thick blades makes them my preferred choice, in addition to the fact that they arrive sharp, have a metal ferrule, and comfortable handles. I've bought many sweeps and have found them superb, holding a great edge for a long time, even when carving hardwoods, like oak (which is what I primarily carve). I also very much appreciate that these skew gouges are available, for more figured wood and tighter cuts (I find these skew gouges invaluable for getting into corners and slicing away thin shavings when the grain is tricky). These should be considered by every carver. Hopefully, if people continue to buy them, Iles will continue to manufacture them and Joel will continue to offer them!
