Osmo Wood Wax Finish is a pigmented oil-wax finish that offers protection and color in one product. Choose a glowing natural look or an intense and vivid color.
Either way, Wood Wax Finish is resistant to dirt and liquid stains. You get a breathable but very durable and hard-wearing finish that won’t crack, peel or flake. For "high traffic" uses like flooring and tables, top the WWF with Polyx or Top Oil for additional protection. A final coat of clear Polyx Oil protects the pigments from wear and tear. Once dry, the finish is safe for children’s toys and food surfaces.
Wood Wax Finish comes in two lines: Transparent and Intensive. Transparent colors allow for the wood's natural grain and character to remain visible. Intensive colors, on the other hand, are more saturated with pigment and will become more grain obscuring with a second coat. The photos of the Intensive colors show this: the section of the photo on the left shows a single coat, and the section on the right shows that same color obscuring the grain with two or more coats.
WWF has very good pigment dispersal, which allows you to make up your own custom blends. (Just be sure to keep careful records.) For example, you if you want a subtle neutral tone, you can whip up a 50 - 50 blend of Pebble 3181 and Polyx Satin 3054 for a base coat then top with a final coat of Polyx 3054. On the other end, you can make your own pastels by mixing in one part of one of the bold Intensives in a Red, Yellow, Green or Blue with at least 5 parts White Intensive 3186. (Preferably topping with Polyx or Top Oil.) Have fun with the options!
Use the Coverage Calculator below to figure out how much Wood Wax Finish you are likely to need for your project. Remember that the Intensive line will become more grain-obscuring with multiple coats, as shown in right side of the photos of each color, so you will need 2 or more coats to achieve that look. (Estimated need only - the actual amount of product needed will vary based upon the condition of the wood, species, surface preparation, etc. )
