Japanese Carving Sets

These slim, elegant traditional Japanese carving chisels feature blue paper Aogami steel blades that will stay sharp a long time and cherry handles that feel comfortable in the hand. Each tool is made with precision to encourage your development as a wood carver. The sets are designed to be easy to use and more affordable to encourage beginning carvers, but the quality will make them a favorite as you grow more advanced. The tools come packed in a lightweight paulownia wood box.

There is a choice of two sets, one with 5 tools and the other with 10.

The set of 5 contains a flat 6mm chisel, a 9 mm knife, a 3 mm U-gouge, a 9 mm U-gouge and a 6 mm V tool.

The set of 10 contains a flat 9mm chisel, a 6 mm knife, a 9 mm knife, a 3mm U-Gouge, a 6 mm U-Gouge, a 9mm U-Gouge, a 6 mm V tool, a 9mm shallow gouge , a 9mm short bent gouge and a 12 mm flat rounded chisel.

Close study will show that the Set of 10 contains 4 of the 5 tools in the Set of 5 (9 mm knife, 3 mm U-gouge, a 9 mm U-gouge and 6 mm V tool) but not the flat 6 mm chisel.
