These warm deerskin and Merino wool gloves are another American made reason to wear your Geier work gloves outside of the shop. Plenty rugged for winter yard work and elegant enough for a stroll down the high street, these are the perfect glove for scraping the frosty windows of your truck on the way to a morning meeting.
The deerskin outer is lined with 100 % virgin Merino wool. The wool lining fully envelopes the hand and fingers, and because the knit wool is seamless, these gloves provide excellent dexterity and warmth. When we spoke to Geier about these gloves, they told us that one of their largest customers operates a facility inside the Arctic Circle, in Northern Alaska. There, in sub zero temperatures, folks use these gloves, underneath a seal skin mitt, because the seamless wool lining, and tannery run deerskin provide insulation and durability without compromising dexterity. This allows their employees to work efficiently without the need to strip down to bare skin, and risk frostbitten finger tips.
Although we've never hopped off our snowmobile to tighten a bolt in the frigid darkness of the Alaskan winter, we can vouch for the durability of Geier's deerskin, and Merino wool's ability to keep you warm and comfortable - wet or dry. We are carry two colors, brown and black, so you can dress these gloves up or down depending on whether your day has you wrassl'n with a polar bear, or a bear of a client.
When you first get your gloves, the liner will feel a little lumpy around the thumb and fingers. Simply work the glove around your fingers, and the wool will smooth out with use giving a custom fit.
Order Lined Gloves 1 size larger than your measured size to allow for the lining.
Made in the USA from tannery run deerskin leather lined with 100% virgin Merino wool.
Measuring your glove size:
Measure around the widest part of your palm excluding your thumb.
For
LINED GLOVES add 1 to 1-1/2" to the measurement.
In lined gloves, a larger fit is typically warmer. If you will be wearing these gloves with liners (read: Overkill) add 1-1/2" to your measured size. Likewise if you prefer a looser fit.
If you are left handed, measure your left hand, if you are right handed, measure your right hand.
Also please note - Geier makes performance oriented gloves from high quality leathers. They are designed to fit more snugly than many gloves, and will form to fit your hand over time. Dexterity will come as the leather molds itself to your hand - and the liner beds into the fingers of the gloves.
Geier has been making gloves in Centralia, Washington since 1927. Their long history of attention to detail shines through in the superior fit and finish of their products.
Leather grading:
Geier uses several grades of leather, but none that would compromise the wear or durability of their gloves.
Tannery Run leather is perfect for work gloves. The best, and poorest hides are graded out leaving leather suitable for grain (hair) side cutting. Typically leather of this grade will exhibit some scarring or marking. Under no circumstances is the wearing quality of the glove affected.
Select leather is the clearest leather available. Wild animal hides such as deer or elk are never perfect, however imperfections are kept to minimum.
Reverse (Suede) leather will typically have numerous scars, marks and blemishes. For this reason, the leather is used flesh (suede) side out. Again, under no circumstances is the wearing quality, or durability of the glove compromised.
Care:
Geier gloves are made to last, and will become even more comfortable with age. Kept dry, the natural oils from your skin will keep them soft and comfortable. Air-dry wet gloves; although they may stiffen, they will soon soften back up with use.
