Basswood Carving & Turning Stock

Top quality Wisconsin basswood blocks are designed to make your carving and turning more fun and more efficient. The wood stock is clear with no knots soft and easy to carve.

Basswood is prized for carving due to its softness (hard tools and soft wood is much easier than soft tools and hard wood), light weight and fine grain. Beginners will find basswood very forgiving during the learning curve, but even experienced carvers can benefit from how easy it is to work with.

The wood is great for practicing your technique or for using for small spoons, figure carving, whittling, turning, art projects, etc.

We stopped carrying this wood a few years ago when it was competing for warehouse space, but we get so many requests, especially from in-store customers who cannot believe how difficult it is to find affordable basswood blocks in NYC, we decided to restock the product.
