by Carlyle Lynch

Made in Charleston, South Carolina, 1750-65, this kneehole writing desk was also known as a "Bureau Table." The top is held to the sides by a dovetail housed joint. That joint, so easily made today with a router, appears to have been unique to Charleston. Mahogany and cypress. H.32, W.34, D.20 1/2. This piece is part of the collection at the Museum of Early Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Each set of Carlyle Lynch measured drawings is accompanied by a detailed parts list with measurements, a list of hardware, and notes detailing any extra information that might be required, such as certain construction details.
