by Carlyle Lynch

From requests for some smaller, less ambitious plans, comes this small stand from the Tidewater area of Virginia, influenced by Chippendale. 1760-80, cherry. Top 18 5/8 x 16 1/4, H.28. This cute little chest, not quite as large as its name, walnut, another real country piece, especially valuable historically because the hinges are rare ones known to antiquarians as “dovetail hinges". Shown full size on the plan, M-13 is two plans for the price of one. H.6 1/8, Top 6 3/8 x 13. This piece is part of the collection at the Museum of Early Decorative Arts (MESDA) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Each set of Carlyle Lynch measured drawings is accompanied by a detailed parts list with measurements, a list of hardware, and notes detailing any extra information that might be required, such as certain construction details.
