A lightweight rectangular sanding pad sander is great when you're doing a lot of overhead and vertical surface sanding with tight corners. That's why you'll save a lot of time with the RTS 400 REQ compared to a disk sander followed by a detail sander. The RTS 400 REQ uses a rectangular sheet of sandpaper 3 5/32" x 5 1/4" (80 x 133 mm) - the same size paper as the LS 130 linear sander. It is a true orbital sander with a 5/64" (2mm) stroke. Use the coarse grits for paint removal and higher grits for pre-varnish treatment. Either way, you'll get great results.
The RTS 400 REQ omes with a protector that envelopes the tool to prevent the pads from making contact with adjacent surfaces protecting both the surface as well as the pads of the sanders. Like the DTS 400, step-less variable speed improves working results, and vibration-stop balancing reduces fatigue during prolonged use.
Like all Festool sanders the RTS 400 REQ has exceptional dust collection. The sander is fitted with an interlocking dust port to connect with the new style of 27mm Festool dust extractor hoses. An adapter is included for older vacuums.
This sander is perfect for one-handed operation since it weighs under 2 1/2 lbs., is designed to fit both right and left handed folks comfortably and has Festool's vibration stop balancing to prevent fatigue.
80x133 sandpaper is available in 40 - 400 grit.
