Stanley has been making this scraper plane for over a hundred years. Then they moved production to Mexico and the quality dropped below acceptability (which is impressive considering it's not that complicated a tool). This version by Kunz Is very nice and well made. Basically all a scraper plane is is a simple frame that holds a scraper (included) at the correct angle to your work. A little screw is used to bow out the scraper if you wish to control the cut. The main reason for using a cabinet scraper in a frame like this is that hand-held scrapers are tiring to use on large surfaces. With this tool you will find it a lot easier to get a consistent shaving and you don’t have to worry about the heat buildup that makes hand - held scrapers hard to told when working quickly. To use: burnish a burr on one edge of the blade as you would on a cabinet scraper. Made in Germany.
