by Christopher Schwarz

We surely take sharpening seriously at TFWW. We’ve held classes, made videos, etc. We absolutely agree with Chris Schwarz’s statement, “If you want to be a better woodworker, you need to learn to sharpen.”

In this charming small book, Chris has distilled the latest wisdom and put it in an eminently readable and portable book. It’s small (120 pages in a pocket-sized format) but mighty, with text and pictures that show you how to get sharp edges efficiency with a minimum of equipment and fuss.

The book will show you how to set up a new tool, repair chipped edges, grind, hone and polish. But perhaps more importantly, it gives you the confidence to get over your sharpening inhibitions and get into the habit of making your tools the sharpest - and most fun to use - they can be.

In addition to the fundamental information about sharpening, Sharpen This delves into a comparative analysis of different sharpening media (their advantages and disadvantages) and tips for sharpening scrapers and complex profiles.

120 pages. Pocket-sized (4 1/2" x 6") but printed to last on heavy, #80 coated paper, assembled using printed signatures that are sewn together with thread, then glued and reinforced with fiber tape. Hardcover with pages are wrapped in heavy cloth-covered boards. Produced and printed entirely in the United States.
