This Friday we start shipping our newest book We Sit Together. It's a great short read, or several months worth of bench building depending on how you look at it, but either way we thought it would be remiss of us not to mention the opportunity to actually see the benches Francis Cape made for the book.
If you are in the New York City area on Thursday night (that's tonight, the 27th of June) you can even attend the public opening of "Utopian Benches" at the Murray Guy Gallery. If you can't make it to the opening, the show will be up until August 2nd. Check the gallery's website for more details. The gallery is open this Saturday, but then they close weekends for the summer (like most of the Chelsea art galleries). If you do go make sure you do a wander around west Chelsea and you can see all sorts of art and sculpture in some of the premier galleries around. You can also walk the High Line and do loads of other stuff. I'm planning to see the show on Friday, It's not just that we will be offering the book, I really want to see how the benches came out and do some test sitting. And of course I love seeing any gallery show about furniture. Barring bad weather I should have a full report next week.
