Beech Handled English Cabinetmaker's Screwdrivers

I have tried to like these for decades. They look good and the handles are comfortable, but they just don't stay in the screw slot as well as even plain hardware store screwdrivers.

I purchased the set of 6. They were really sloppily put together- shafts crooked and loose in their handles. Maybe my order was a fluke, but either way I returned them and purchased a set by Crown off amazon (which I was trying to avoid). The Crown set was well made and met my expectations.

I bought the set new because they look powerful...this is a comprehensive set for nearly any cabinetmaker’s need. Outstanding quality and very distinctive. They feel perfect in the hand, warm and inviting...perfect for brass screws!

These are beautiful screwdrivers and Tools For Working Wood is the only place I have found that sells them. I purchased the entire set and if I had to do it again I would purchase the smaller sizes. The 10" is very large and almost doesn't fit the hand, it is almost a novelty tool, but the others are fine. I had the beech handle become disloged from the screwdriver tang on a couple of these, But like any chisel from Marples and similar makers it can be reinstalled with a couple wacks on the rear of the handle.
