Use these measures and you won’t have to use the “burn an inch” rule (the technique some people use to start the measurement an inch into the tape to accommodate the metal clip at the end) then remember to subtract the “burnt” measurement. These tape measures feature two inches of blank space followed by a zero line, which removes the need to subtract inches.
