by Fiona & Keith BakerThis is a new updated (2011) edition of one of the more important books on 20th century furniture design. What I like about it that the authors stick to the facts. 240 specific pieces of furniture from 1890 to 2010 are clearly shown in color photographs along with important data on the designer, and comments on what sets the piece apart. Lots of the pieces are well known but having them all in one place in a glorious compendium is very very nice. We routinely recommend to people that they get out of the house and go look at great furniture. While this book isn't a substitute for the actual object, it's the next best thing. This book will be a great source book for ideas. Dimensions are not included but with some effort the pictures can be scaled up.
