Demonstration: Carving a Guitar Neck with Master Luthier Ian Kelly 1
We’re delighted to host luthier Ian Kelly, the owner of Kelly Custom Instruments, as he carves the neck of a guitar. Ian makes custom guitars and handles a wide range of complex instrument repairs and restorations. Come watch this master craftsman carve a Spanish cedar neck for a fan fret braceless guitar body using rasps, a spokeshave, and sandpaper. We featured Ian’s braceless guitar on a recent Instagram and prompted a lot of debate about his design. Opinions welcome!

Whether you are a instrument maker yourself, a musicion, or just curious here is a look inside the magical process for creating a musical instrument.

Class duration: 1PM - 5Pm (4 hours)
Where: At our showroom at 112 26th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11232

Parking is available in our driveway, near our driveway, and under the expressway. The subway (R train to 25th street in Brooklyn) is only 3 1/2 blocks away.
