Understanding how to use a grinder can save you hours of sharpening time!
Using the techniques he wrote about in his Fine Woodworking article, "Grind Perfect Edges Without Burning," Joel will teach you how to hollow grind chisels and plane irons to a wire edge -- in just a minute or two. The class will cover topics including:
The difference between sharpening and grinding
When to grind
The geometry of grinding
Classic and modern grinding technology and equipment
Grinder safety
How to dress a grinding wheel
And - most importantly: the techniques needed to grind safely and without burning your tools
This is a hands on class.
Tuition includes all tools and materials.
Class participants must bring or purchase safety glasses or goggles and sign a safety waiver.

Class fee: $50. All students are given a TFWW gift certificate worth $25.
Parking is available in front of our shop and under the expressway. The subway (R train to 25th street in Brooklyn) is a few blocks away.
