Vermont Natural Coatings take a byproduct of cheesemaking - whey proteins - to make an easy-to-use, durable and non-toxic waterborne wood finish. The patented PolyWhey finishes are environmentally friendly and safe for food, plants and pets. The VNC products are particularly appealing for people seeking naturally derived finishing products that are neutral in odor, sustainable and durable.

Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey Furniture Finish is a durable, clear finish that will enhance your furniture’s good looks. PolyWhey Furniture Finish can be applied on bare wood or wood that was previously stained or coated (including with oil-based stain or finish). Use it for a durable and safe, non-toxic finish on furniture, toys, cabinets, trim, tables, doors and any other kind of interior joinery. It will enhance the look of your grain with a clear, durable finish.

The non-yellowing formula is low odor and low VOC and has a quick drying time of 2 hours. Brush or apply with a pad or spray gun and sand between coats with 220 or finer grit sandpaper. VNC recommends three coats for optimal performance. Coverage: 500 - 600 sq ft/Gallon.

Choice of Satin, Semi-Gloss and Gloss finish. Made in Vermont.

Love this finish
By: Ryan Cheney (Mar, 2019)
I've been using PolyWhey for years (my local hardware store carries it) and I absolutely love it. While no finish is foolproof, I've found it to be quite user friendly applied by pad, foam brush, synthetic bristle brush, and HVLP. The VOC's are minuscule, to the point I don't wear a respirator unless spraying it. It's durable, flexible, and sticks to almost anything. It's good to see Vermont Natural Coatings get greater recognition.
I own this product.
