Think of the HK saw as an alternative to a miter saw system. You can use it to make precise, repeated cuts without taking materials to a miter saw. When coupled FSK Guide Rails with integrated angle stops, HK saws bring an exceptionally high degree of efficiency, repeatability, accuracy, and quality of cut.
Some great features to bear in mind: The cutting depth adjustment has a plunge function, and the pendulum hood is remotely controlled, keeping both your hands far away from the spinning blade. The miter angle adjustment has a rock-solid central clamp point, allowing for accurate angles from 0 - 50?°. All versions of the saw come with an 18 tooth general purpose blade.
Although the HK saw can be used with any Festool track, the FSK track is specially designed to snap directly onto the base of the saw so that you can wield the entire unit as one. The FSK has a miter stop that is brutally easy to use, making it possible to cut accurate compound miters off of only one mark. The angle stops on the underside of the track butt up against the side of your lumber, providing quick, stable, and repeatable registration for angles from -45 degrees to 60 degrees. The need for a rafter square is completely eliminated. After pushing through a cut on the FSK, the spring-loaded track jumps back to its original position so you’re ready to keep hogging through lumber (it looks exactly as pro as it sounds). FSK tracks are available in three sizes if you’re working with chipboard or large applications.
The HK is available in corded and cordless models. The corded HK has a high-torque 1,200 W motor wired to provide constant power throughout the cut, while the cordless HKC has a brushless EC-TEC motor and 18V Li-ion battery for maximum life and portability. As with most cordless Festool tools, you can get the cordless tool either with or without the battery and charger. In addition, you can get the saw in a package with the FSK track.
